The Movie Man

He is getting screwed up
Turning self evidence
Into elusiveness

He cannot think straight
He philosophizes
On a simple web of things

And fruitlessly keeps
On searching for
Some absolute thing

He likens himself
To an instrument like
An ancient philosopher

Who held his pen down
On the paper and said
He was a just piece of

The grand design of things –
He did not write. God moved
The pen on paper to write!

So what should he do?
What should he not do?
He makes much ado
About nothing!

The great philosopher he is
The great spiritual master he is
Of his guru the faithful follower he is.

Dear Ravi

I have another take on him. The apparent formlessness of what he puts out there creates voids that others are forced to fill, thus he promotes their creative energies.

Heather, you may be right. I think the Oscar award ceremony and the acceptance speeches there prompted him to write this blog. He being a humble and spiritual man, then went on philosophizing...

By the way, I visited your blog site yesterday and left a comment for you.

Dear Ravi

He seems unfocused, but if you look at the results he achieves, he's more focused than most.

He seems to cast a netting of unfocused energy over his projects. Others' energies are caught on the wing in the net. As they struggle in his net, they flash all the colors of their wings, and something extraordinary comes to be on film.

(Thanks for your comments, left an answer for you there. Now I'm off to visit your translations.)

Varun,

Thanks for visiting my Poetry Blog. I liked your poetry site.

I am interested to put together an anthology of Indian poetry into English free verse. Any interest in collaboration? What Indian languages you are fluent in?

I posted a translation of Bulleh Shah's poem, what do you know who I am, this morning. If you know Punjabi, you might like to read it.
