In the West or elsewhere,
Knowing you are an Indian,
They used to link you
To snake charmers
And to people dying in famine.

No more.

They link you now to a civilization
Of intelligent smart people,
Progressing fast in software
Leaving spirituality behind.
But they still remember Kamasutra -

The pleasure source of mankind.
They praise sexuality in it,
They praise Vastavanaya’s mind.
They hold us in high esteem
Reading love-making’s kinds.

While some Indians hearing ‘Kamasutra’,
Think something is obscene in it,
Pornography and sex comes to their minds.
How ironic is this? Do dirty minds
Think only of dirt in things sublime?
